Rory's Product is...
I have a real belief that it is not about how hard you can train, but how long you can train. Consistent improvements over time instead of short bouts of hard work split up by long periods out. Edge is an important component of maintaining this healthy training balance. I’ve learnt a lot about my body, the way it reacts to certain stressors and how to look after myself with a view to optimising performance.
Rory Townsend is an Irish cyclist originally from the UK. Having studied Sports Science at St Marys University in Twickenham, he began cycling as a full-time profession in 2013, starting out with a British professional outfit Pedal Heaven race team.
Since then he has been riding with the Canyon dhb team, whilst representing Ireland at international events including the European and World Road Race Championships, and the 2019 Tokyo Test event.
Last year he experienced success both at home and Internationally, winning three rounds of the British Cycling Elite road series, a third-place finish at the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic, and winning the sprinters overall red jersey at the Tour of Britain.
Overseas Rory had several UCI podiums, including a third-place at the Heistse Pijl, and two stage wins at the Tour of Fuzhou in China.
He is hoping to realise his dream and make the selection to go to next year’s Tokyo Olympics.

As an endurance athlete I know how easy it is to tip the balance from training and pushing your limits by ‘over-reaching’, to over training and having the potential to be injured. This is where MyFORM® has really been able to help. Tracking my hormones over my entire menstrual cycle has enabled me see the impact my training is having and avoid putting stress on my body resulting in a loss of periods.
Cycling National Hill Climb National Championships
Having regular testing with Edge twice saved my season in 2019 by identifying biochemical issues before they put me out of action completely. I’d highly recommend regular testing for any high performance athlete.
12hr and 100 Mile Record Holder
I started using Edge when I was in a hard block of off-season training preparing for the Commonwealth Games. In the time that I’ve been monitoring my biomarkers, I’ve learnt a lot about my body, the way it reacts to certain stressors and how to look after myself with a view to optimising performance. Having access to historical and current data from the Edge tests I have been much more aware of what issues I might be having and also far better informed before having a discussion with the doctor.
1st 2020 National Hill Climb Champion
As someone that has had a lifetime within the sport of cycling, I was always keen to look after both physical and mental sides. Now a mature cyclist and having rheumatoid arthritis I have become very aware of how regular blood tests can not only keep tabs on your internal engine but also keep an eye on many factors as the body ages. I have chosen the Endurance test as I feel this is most suited to me and I can monitor my blood levels on a regular basis.
