I lost my period as a consequence of RED-S and so I started using Edge to track my hormone levels and help me recover from RED-S as well as improving my performance in triathlon. My first test has already given me an insight into some areas I can work on to improve my performance and I am excited to see the effect that improving my biomarkers can have on my performance.

Mia Hawkins competes in Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, she’s also studying for a Masters in Osteopathy.

A gymnast through childhood she looked for a new challenge when starting at University of Bath. She joined the triathlon club and quickly caught the bug for the sport, racing all around the world. In Mia’s first year of racing she qualified for the Age Group World Championships and finished 8th in Lausanne at the AG World Championships.

Mia is now racing in the British Elite Super Series and French D2 triathlon series. Her best result so far is Top 10 Senior Women in 2021 at Mallory Park and overall top 20 in the series in 2021.

Mia started to suffer from RED-S, she uses Edge to monitor and track her hormones as part of her recovery.  Mia says, ‘Edge has allowed me to adapt my training to ensure my hormones are optimised. I have also been using Edge to monitor other biomarkers and ensure to optimise my nutrition and performance. My first test with Edge highlighted some of my hormones where low which was negatively effecting my performance. I have since been able to adapt my training and nutrition to improve these levels. My goals for this year is to get back to racing after my injury. I am now training more consistently with more energy for my sessions.’

Mia is using our Female Triathlon test to learn more about her hormones, key biomarkers and how this can help monitor her health and training load.
