Blood sample collection options

Finger prick kit (FREE)

All our kits require a finger prick blood sample which is quick and easy to do at home. But if you don't like the idea of squeezing blood out of your finger, here are some other options:

A home visit by a nurse (+£60)

Have a nurse visit you at home to take your blood sample from your vein. The kit will come with everything the nurse needs to do the blood sample collection. Once you've placed your order, we'll be in touch to arrange an appointment.

Visit a clinic (+£45)

You can visit one of our partner clinics to have a nurse take a blood sample from your vein. Select this option at checkout where you can also see which clinics are near you. Once you've placed your order, we'll send you an email to arrange your appointment.

Organise a nurse myself (FREE)

If none of the above options work for you, you can arrange your own medical professional to collect your sample. There is no additional charge for this. Once you've ordered your test, we'll send you everything you and your chosen medical professional will need to collect a sample and post it back to our labs.

You can choose your blood sample collection method in the checkout. Learn more about sample collection.

What This Test Covers

Our at-home testosterone blood test checks vital biomarkers that affect performance, recovery, and overall health:

  • Total Testosterone: Measures the overall testosterone level in your blood, a key hormone that supports muscle growth, energy, and stamina.
  • Albumin (ALB): A protein that helps transport testosterone and maintain fluid balance in the body, impacting muscle recovery and endurance.
  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG): Regulates the amount of free testosterone available for muscle building and performance.
  • Free Testosterone (calculated): The portion of testosterone that is bioavailable and active, essential for strength, recovery, and mood regulation.
  • Oestradiol (Oestrogen): An important hormone that, in high levels, can negatively affect muscle mass and fat distribution.
  • Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT): A marker of liver health, crucial for athletes using supplements or PEDs that may impact liver function.
  • Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) & Luteinising Hormone (LH): These hormones regulate natural testosterone production.
  • Creatine Kinase (CK): A marker of muscle damage and recovery, allowing you to monitor overtraining and reduce injury risk.
  • Creatinine & Urea: Key markers for kidney health, especially important for athletes on high-protein diets or supplements.
  • Haemoglobin: Reflects oxygen-carrying capacity, directly impacting endurance and overall physical performance.

Key Benefits for Athletes and Bodybuilders

Prevent Overtraining and Injury

High-intensity training can lead to muscle damage and stress on the body. Monitoring biomarkers like Creatine Kinase (CK) and testosterone levels allows you to:

  • Detect early signs of overtraining before injury occurs.
  • Adjust your training intensity based on recovery insights.
  • Maintain muscle health and reduce the risk of long-term damage.

Optimise Hormonal Balance for Peak Performance

Testosterone plays a crucial role in muscle building, fat distribution, mood, and energy levels. With this test, you can:

  • Identify low testosterone levels that may be hindering your gains.
  • Monitor the balance between testosterone and oestradiol (oestrogen), as excess oestrogen can limit muscle growth and cause unwanted fat retention.
  • Ensure your hormone levels are optimised for maximum strength, endurance, and recovery.

Track the Effects of TRT and PEDs Safely

If you’re on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), regular blood testing is vital. This test helps you:

  • Ensure your testosterone levels are within a healthy range to avoid negative side effects like mood swings, fatigue, or reduced muscle mass.
  • Monitor liver and kidney function (via ALT, Creatinine, and Urea), which can be impacted by PEDs or supplements.
  • Stay on top of your hormonal health and make adjustments to your regimen for optimal results and safety.

Why Regular Testosterone Testing is Essential

Maintain Muscle Mass & Strength

Testosterone is the primary driver of muscle hypertrophy (growth). Low testosterone can lead to muscle weakness, fatigue, and poor performance. By regularly testing your levels, you can maintain optimal muscle-building conditions.

Ensure Safe Supplement Use

If you're using supplements or PEDs, balancing your testosterone and monitoring liver/kidney function is crucial for avoiding potential health risks. This test provides detailed insights into your body's response and helps you avoid overuse or damage.

Support Recovery & Prevent Burnout

When you train hard, your body needs time to recover. High levels of Creatine Kinase (CK) and low testosterone can indicate poor recovery, increasing your risk of injury. With our blood test, you can make sure you're not pushing your body too far, allowing for smarter, more effective training sessions.
